Booking Your Commission

To book your commission, please contact me via this website or Facebook messenger. You will need to disclose your requirements, supply high quality reference photos, and pay the deposit.

Due to high business volume, commissions are typically booked months in advance. Portraits are completed in the order they are received. If you need a portrait to be completed by a specific deadline (for example someone's birthday), please notify me of the preferred finish date when you initially contact me. I will do everything I can to accommodate the time frame, however cannot make any guarantees if I have other bookings scheduled before yours.

I will not book your commission until a deposit has been received.

I will first send you a rough concept used from your reference photo for final approval before I begin on the actual piece. I will also keep you posted with pictures as the piece progresses, if you prefer.  Once the piece has been started, it will usually take 5 to 8 weeks to be completed.

Photo References

In order to create a realistic, vibrant portrait that's full of life and character, your photos absolutely need to be of a high resolution,  in focus, and clearly show your pet's entire head.  The more detailed the reference photo is, the more detailed your commission piece will be. This is especially crucial when it comes to your pet's eyes. They need to be clearly portrayed, as the colors and light interaction are what create expression and uniqueness.

If you're taking the photos yourself, please take them outside in natural light, preferably a cloudy day. Bright sunshine and artificial light result in harsh and overdrawn shadows.  Please also take the photos at your pet's height. If the photo is taken while you're standing above or below your pet, it can create an unflattering or distorted view.  You can hold your pets' favorite treat or toy to the side or slightly above the camera to direct their full attention towards the lens.

If you supply photographs that came from a professional photographer, please provide me with written permission from them that comply with copyright laws.

If you do not have high quality photographs, I may not be able complete a commission for you.  I cannot go off of photos that are of low resolution, poor lighting, or poor angles. Please remember, you have seen your pet every day and therefore know the little details that make them unique. In most cases, I have not seen your pet in person, just the photographs your provide me. So I cannot simply "fill in or imagine" the details that are missing from your photos. That would risk me creating details that were never present in your pet.

If you do not have good photos, your pet is still alive, and you reside in Colorado, I can come to you and take usable photos of your pet. Please know that there will be an added fee for this service and price will depend on your distance from me.

Pricing

I offer four separate sizes.  I can only fit one (1) pet. Only dogs, cats, or horses can be done. The portrait will be of the face and neck. The portrait will also take up the majority of the paper. Price includes your unique portrait set into a black, gold, silver, or white frame with either a black, gold, silver, or white mat under high quality glass. I will use the frame and mat colors that I feel compliment the portrait best.

A 50% booking fee from the original price will be required to secure a spot for your commission.

(If in the unfortunate/extremely rare case where I have to cancel your portrait,  I will refund the fee in full.)

The remainder of your cost will be required upon completion of the piece.  You will have 3 days, after the day of notification that the piece is finished, to pay the remainder of your cost.  Pieces will not be shipped without full payment, no exceptions. If payment is not received within the 3 day grace period, the piece will be placed up for auction.

Payment may be in the form of either Cash, Venmo, or Square.

Once you have bought a custom portrait, you may also request additional prints for $100 each. Prints of custom pieces are only provided to the original recipient and will not be sold to anyone else.

Each original piece will come with a certificate of authenticity.

Keep in mind, the smaller the piece, the less detail can be added. The larger the piece, the more room for detail.
